Improve 'Database Views' feature

We love the Database Views element and especially the dynamic filters to share work progress and booked tasks with our clients. However, the display limitations are still basic and buggy. Database View should get some TLC to make it more useful:

  • When selecting “Edit View”, it loads an empty page first and requires a browser page reload to show the editor

  • Full width is not full width for any display type.

  • Table view is a narrow column, even is set to full width

  • Custom code section does not support CSS, but is desperately needed

  • “Created” field does not have a prefix/suffix option like the others

  • Pagination or date range limitations would be useful. Some of our clients have a long list of entries which scroll forever.

  • Dynamic text option in the title/header/text field is needed, especially for the dynamically filtered pages, so clients see their name at the top.

  • Dark mode does not work for error messages in the editor

  • “Export Data” button is not present at the top in table view

  • Table view looks dated and should at least look more like Notion

  • List and calendar views would be great extra view options

    Thanks again for the feedback, we’ve just released a new version of database views which is much smoother with a new and refreshed look for the table view. We’ve also fixed many bugs.

    Note that custom CSS is supported, just make sure to wrap your code into a <style> … </style> wrapper.

    Hi @Nadja von Massow thanks a lot for this awesome request. I agree with all of your points and we do plan on working on them. We’re currently working on a sub-form feature (for relations and DB views), but a complete re-vamp of database views is next on our roadmap!

      Thanks. I think the Database Views, together with the dynamic filters, are so powerful, especially to make up for Notion’s inability to offer proper, secure client portals. So, building your DB Views out a little would be a game changer.
